I got a little excited..... :)

With nothing much but cold weather here lately, I decided to tinker with some summer photos so I can remember what it is like when the sun was shinning.  Excited!  Yeah, I found a great site with some new Photoshop brushes.  I keep adding new ones...and I'm not sure how much more the PC will hold.  I posted the link below!

More cold!

So while we were getting HAMMERED with bad weather this past few weeks....got my camera and here is what I got.

How I operate....

So..... I found a bunch of quotes by famous photographers and ordinary people that help describe HOW I OPERATE , and how I feel about photographs :

  • “Character, like a photograph, develops in darkness.”- Yousuf Karsh

  •  “The trouble with photographing beautiful women is that you never get into the dark room until after they've gone.”- Yousuf Karsh  (This one is great!)

  • “Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter.”- Ansel Adams

  • “A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words.”- Ansel Adams

  • “A good photograph is knowing where to stand.”- Ansel Adams

  • When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I'd like to know them. Anyone I know I photograph.- Annie Leibovitz

  •      A photograph can be an instant of life captured for eternity that will never cease looking back at you. - Brigitte Bardot

  •  There can't be two identical photographs in this world. Not even if it is from the same photographer.  - Anonymous

  •  The pictures you want tomorrow, you have to take today. - Anonymous

  • Anyone can take a picture...a person with a passion sees the picture before it's taken. - Anonymous

  • Photographs are like wine, they get better with age. - John E. Burkowski

  • No matter what camera you use, it is not the camera but your artistic eyes who makes the photograph. - Taga Creekside - RP

  • There are things hidden for all the world until photographed. - Craig Coverdale

  • Remember, not everything is a picture. A good eye can edit before the shutter opens. - Craig Coverdale

Some of these are from famous photographers, and some are just from ordinary people, but they help describe what photographs are to me.

Creepy?

The first two are just a few places that I happen to visit around Eureka Springs, AR.

You can actually climb to the top of this tower.

The next two are in Eureka Springs, AR.  This is the Cresent Hotel.  There is kinda a creepy story behind it.  Here is the link if you would like to read about it:

Moving Lights

Tripod....Check!! I suppose that I never realized how hard it was going to be to photograph moving lights.  Even on a Christmas tree. Well this is my attempt.  Now I know what else I need to work on.

Monte Ne, AR Remains

These are some shots of what use to be Monte Ne, AR.  At the time that I shot these this is what was above water.  The rest is mostly under water; at least it was the last I visited.

Some random graffiti inside. (below) This is what use to be a hotel.

The outside:

This last
one below was
once rooms of the hotel:

Every time I travel to Arkansas it looks a bit different.  Allot under water, allot above water, but it's still neat to visit if you get a chance.

Website

Lately I have been toying with the idea of starting my own website........But then I think why? With all of the latest technology, and free no less, there are plenty of sites that can easily get your work noticed. Things like Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Deviant Art, and even sites such as this, offer a great deal of attention if you use them correctly. So I have paused on the thought of beginning a website. Some of the best work that I have been able to find has been from free websites of photographers that have no personal site on the web. So, I suppose that in a down economy, I would look to social networking sites before I would pay someone to do it for me. Plus with these you can still personalize it to your liking without having any experience at all. At least that's what I think.
